Reading L2
L2 abbreviates Low or No Line Voltage. The fault may sit in the home power supply, with the result that the heater cannot turn on. Drum and cycle keep going while the code shows. A touch on any pad dismisses it and returns the display to the estimated time remaining.
Which dryers list it
- Commercial-grade residential dryers.
- Standard dryers.
- HybridCare dryers, where the manual treats it as a diagnostic code that appears only during the initial installation.
Checks, in sequence
- Household fuses or breakers. An electric dryer draws on two: one feeds the motor circuit, the other the heating element. If either has tripped, heat may be lost. The circuit must be 30 amps and fused on both sides of the line.
- Power cord. Compare the installation with the installation instructions. Unplug the dryer prior to inspecting the terminal screws, and tighten any that are loose.
- Power cycle. Breaker(s) off for one minute, then on, then run a Timed Dry heated cycle and observe for one minute.
Electric models need a 240-volt supply. A qualified electrician should verify the electrical supply if the message persists.
Related codes
- PF: appears when a power failure interrupts the cycle.
- hE: a heating error, temperature too low or too high.
- LF: the HybridCare filter code.
