Suds above what the washer can handle
F0E2 means over suds. Too much foam can prevent water being spun out, so laundry may finish under-rinsed or damp. Four Whirlpool washer types carry this code, each with its own advice.
Front load
- An automatic suds reduction routine starts. Allow it to continue.
- “Sud” or “Sd” plus the Rinse status light: suds are being cleared.
- “Sud” or “Sd” plus the Cycle Complete light: rinsing may be incomplete or water left behind, and a Rinse/Spin cycle is an option.
- With a bulk dispenser switched on, extra detergent in the drum is unnecessary and can create foam. The concentration level set in the machine deserves a look.
Top load
The message is Over Suds Detected. A Rinse/Spin cycle can add rinsing. Only High-Efficiency (HE) detergent should go in: other detergent, or an amount above the recommendation, may bring excess foam, a slower spin, soaked loads and longer cycles because of extra rinses.
Liquid chlorine bleach sold as “no splash” or “easy-pour” includes a thickener that may foam. Run the empty washer with ordinary liquid bleach, or use a washer cleaning product before the next load.
Laundry tower, washer section
Over suds detection is the cause listed. Choose HE detergent only, measure each dose and clean the washer on a regular basis. Old detergent, especially powder, tends not to dissolve. Containers should be kept shut, and detergent that will not dissolve should be replaced.
Compact ventless laundry tower
- “Sud” or “Sd” on the display: the washer stretches the rinse automatically.
- Tumbling stops and water is added so bubbles burst. That pause is required and can recur several times.
- Dose detergent as the maker recommends for the soil level and load size.
- Big pre-measured pacs suit only large or heavily soiled loads.
- Ordinary liquid bleach is the better choice over thickened types.
- After the cycle, a Clean Wash cycle clears leftover detergent and build-up.
Related washer codes
- F0E3: the overload recovery cycle is running.
- F0E5: off balance load as the potential cause.
- F0E9: an unbalanced load.
Washer service for suds faults in San Francisco
When F0E2 keeps returning even with the right detergent and dose, a technician visit is the next step for a Whirlpool washer in San Francisco or the Bay Area. Call (415) 687-4102 or read about Whirlpool washer repair. Have ready the washer type, model number and the detergent used.
Model compatibility: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F0E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
