Error codeF2
ApplianceCooktop
F2 is a heat warning
Electric and radiant Whirlpool cooktops show F2 when the surface cooking area has become too hot. It behaves like a warning: the code goes away on its own after the area cools.
Cooling steps
Remove every pan from the hot area.
Turn the area off.
Wait for it to cool, at which point F2 vanishes.
Should F2 reappear when you turn the area on again, the cooktop is still too hot. Repeat the cooling.
A power reset as a backup
The manufacturer also lists a reset. Cut the breaker (or pull the plug) for sixty seconds, bring power back, and check the display for the code.

San Francisco cooktop service for a stubborn F2
An F2 that appears on a cooktop that is plainly cool should go to a technician. Whirlpool cooktop repair is our San Francisco page, and (415) 687-4102 reaches us for the Bay Area; say what the code is and which model you own.
Model compatibility: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
