Error codeF8
ApplianceCooktop
Unlike the board and wiring codes, F8 describes a cooking habit: a surface cooking area has stayed on too long, and the automatic shutoff has kicked in. Whirlpool lists it for electric (radiant) cooktops.
Cool down, then reset
Turn off the surface cooking area.
Remove any cookware from it and allow the surface to cool; the shutoff has been activated.
Switch the cooktop breaker off for one minute.
Switch the breaker on again.
Stay with the display for a minute and see whether the code shows up once more.
Check that the cooktop operates normally.
If F8 returns
When the code keeps coming back, stop using the cooktop and arrange a technician visit.

Repeated F8 messages on a Whirlpool cooktop are worth a call to (415) 687-4102 for a visit in San Francisco. Have the code and model number at hand and say that you let the surface cool and cycled the breaker. See Whirlpool cooktop repair for more.
Model compatibility: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F8 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
