Whirlpool Washer Fod F18 Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code Fod / F18
Appliance Washer

Too many suds trigger Fod, shown as F18 on some units, on a compact front load Whirlpool. The washer halts its program because of the foam, and it may halt again and again until the suds have dropped far enough.

Getting rid of the foam

  1. Launch the Rinse & Spin program and add the Intensive Rinse option.
  2. Look at the drain pump filter and make sure it is clean.
  3. In future, measure detergent as its maker advises, and think about turning on the Dosing Aid option.

What else produces suds

  • Detergent type. Only HE (high-efficiency) detergent belongs in this washer. A regular product, or too big a measure, causes excess suds, and those can end in leaks, draining concerns and weak rinsing.
  • Drain hose. Check it for kinks or clogs. A restricted hose or standpipe (drainpipe) can bring on Fod.

Washers covered

Compact front load washers.

Related washer codes

  • FdL and F29: a door that will not unlock, with a drain pump filter step.
  • F9E1: abnormal drainage.
