About this model

Model overview

The WOEC5030LZ is described in our model library as a combination wall oven plus microwave of 6.4 cu ft, 30 inches wide. Stacking a cooking oven and a microwave in one tall cabinet saves space in a small San Francisco kitchen, but it also means a repair visit has to separate two quite different systems that share a frame and sometimes a control.

Which half is the problem?

Start by using the two functions one at a time. If the microwave heats food but the oven stays cold, the fault lies in the oven side, and the reverse is just as informative. A display that is dead or confused for both halves points toward the shared control or the supply. Note what you tried and what the screen showed.

What goes wrong on a combination unit

  • The microwave runs, the light is on and the turntable moves, but food stays cold.
  • The oven fails to reach temperature or cooks unevenly.
  • The keypad ignores presses or beeps without starting.
  • The oven door will not latch properly or stays locked.
  • A fan runs after cooking stops, or the unit overheats and shuts down.

Codes for the microwave side

Wall ovens with a microwave section have their own entries in the code list. F1E2 concerns the microwave user interface and its wiring. F1E4 names the microwave appliance manager or the microwave power relay, and F1E5 names the microwave inverter, the magnetron tube or the wiring. Each is phrased as a possible problem with those parts, so a technician tests before naming a cause. Related guidance on our microwave side lives on the Whirlpool microwave repair page.

Codes for the oven side

For the cooking oven, F3E2 refers to the oven temperature sensor, the control or the wiring, and F5E5 refers to the oven door latch assembly, the door switch or the wiring.

Installation notes

A combination unit is heavy and is hard-wired into a dedicated cutout. The cabinet around it matters: cooling air has to move past both halves, and vents on the frame must stay clear. In rentals where the unit was installed by a previous owner, we sometimes find a cutout that is tight or a supply that was never ideal, which is useful to mention when you book.

What you can safely do first

  1. Check the breaker and reset it if it tripped.
  2. Close both doors firmly and look for anything caught in the seals.
  3. Wipe the door seals and the cavity opening gently.
  4. Clear any items stacked near the vents.
  5. Perform one controlled power reset at the breaker and see whether the code returns.

Do not run the microwave empty to test it, and do not open any panel. If you see sparks or smell burning, switch the breaker off at once.

Next steps
