Whirlpool Cooktop FCE4 Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code FCE4
Appliance Cooktop

FCE4 appears when the wire harness between the cooktop touchpad (the user interface) and the induction module may be faulty. Whirlpool lists it in the help pages for electric/radiant cooktops as well as electric and induction cooktops.

Reset sequence

  1. Take power off the cooktop at the circuit breaker (or unplug it) and wait one minute.
  2. Put power back on.
  3. Leave the cooktop idle for one minute and see whether FCE4 reappears.
  4. Test that the cooktop works.

When FCE4 does not go away

The harness joins two components inside the cooktop, so the next move is a technician visit rather than a home repair.

Codes with a similar subject

  • FCE1: the touchpad itself or its wiring
  • FCE0: the supply and the induction module
  • FC RF: a hotplate code, separate from the harness

Bay Area cooktop repair

A Whirlpool cooktop showing FCE4 in San Francisco or elsewhere in the Bay Area can be booked on (415) 687-4102. Before ringing, jot down the model number and what happened after the breaker was cycled. The Whirlpool cooktop repair page explains the work in more detail.

Model compatibility: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so FCE4 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

FCE4 points to a possible problem in the wire harness linking the cooktop touchpad to the induction module.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
